Jesus Wept (John 11:35)

John 11:35 Jesus Wept.

This is one of the shortest verses in the Bible, but its meaning is greater than you might think.

Four days before Lazarus' death, his sisters Martha and Mary sent word to Jesus that their brother Lazarus was ill.

John 11:3 So the sisters sent word to Jesus, Lord, the one you love is sick.

Jesus was in the Perea region, about twenty miles away from Bethany, and yet he stayed there for two days.

John 11:6 So when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days.

Jesus arrived at the village where Martha and Mary were, four days after Lazarus had already died.

When Martha and Mary heard that Jesus had come, they ran to Him, one at a time, and said:

John 11:21 Lord, Martha said to Jesus, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.

John 11:32 When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said, Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.

They demonstrated to Jesus that they had faith that He could have prevented Lazarus' death if He wanted to, but at the same time they were MOURNING and QUESTIONING Jesus why He hadn't arrived in time to heal Him.

We must understand that God will not always act the way we desire, but God's act will always be the way He wants to act, for God's way of acting will always be the best way:

Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Rest assured that, IF YOU ARE BEING FAITHFUL TO GOD, everything that happens to you has a good purpose, which is: TO BLESS YOU OR INCREASE YOUR FAITH OR PROVE YOUR FIDELITY AND PERSEVERANCE, understanding that in all these situations VICTORY IT WILL ALWAYS COME.

When Jesus came across those sad people, weeping for the death of Lazarus, HE ALSO WEPT.

John 11:35 Jesus Wept.

We can imagine countless feelings that could have passed through the heart of Jesus when He wept, such as: THE SADNESS AT THE SUFFERING OF THOSE PEOPLE WITH THE DEATH OF A RELATIVE.

But I believe that what Jesus felt there was something much greater, that in fact his crying would be A GREAT MOURNING FOR THE SUFFERING OF ALL HUMANITY BY DEATH, because IF MAN HAD NOT SIN FROM THE BEGINNING, he would not need to go through that Suffering.

Never forget what Jesus said: John 16:33 I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

Remember: Jesus will always be with you, ready to do the impossible for you, when necessary, always in His way, so you can be blessed.

The Lord bless you and keep you.
