My Hope Is in the Lord (Psalm 39:7)

David, king of Israel, in Psalm 39, which is considered a literal sequence of Psalm 38, presents before God his anguish and his fear, due to the persecutions he had been suffering from his enemies, as well as from people of his own Kingdom.

Psalms 38:19 But my foes are vigorous, they are mighty, and many are those who hate me wrongfully.

David, in his humility before God, confessed his sins and considered that his mistakes could be the cause of his momentary suffering.

Psalms 38:4 For my iniquities have gone over my head; like a heavy burden, they are too heavy for me.

So David made a wise decision and that should always be taken by all those who are facing struggles and persecutions, which is DO NOT COMPLAIN and DO NOT GRUMBLE.

Psalm 39:1 I said, I will guard my ways, that I may not sin with my tongue; I will guard my mouth with a muzzle, so long as the wicked are in my presence.

Psalm 39:9 I am mute; I do not open my mouth, for it is you who have done it.

Then David ASKED GOD, in the depth of his heart, for the HELP and RELEASE needed:

Psalm 39:7 And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in you. 8 Deliver me from all my transgressions. Do not make me the scorn of the fool!

These are the attitudes that we should all have in times of difficulties, anguish, sadness and struggle:

DO NOT COMPLAIN - God controls everything - Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

CONFESSING SINS OR ERRORS - Psalms 38:4 For my iniquities have gone over my head; like a heavy burden, they are too heavy for me.

PRAY AND ASK FOR GOD'S HELP - Psalm 39:12 Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear to my cry; hold not your peace at my tears! For I am a sojourner with you, a guest, like all my fathers.

Isaiah 59:1 Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear.

HAVE FAITH AND WAIT FOR GOD'S ANSWER - Psalm 39:7 And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in you.

THEN GOD WILL ANSWER YOUR PRAYER - 2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

The Lord bless you and keep you.
