To Whom Shall We Go? (John 6:68)

John 6:68 Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.

Peter said these words just after some of Jesus' disciples left him, when they heard Jesus' speech and found his words too harsh.

John 6:54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.

John 6:60 On hearing it, many of his disciples said, This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?

Peter and other disciples had the conviction, absolute certainty, they recognized and believed that Jesus was the Holy One of God.

John 6:69 We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.

The Bible says that the Lord chooses us and when He finds a sincere heart, contrite and willing to obey Him, He comes and makes a permanent home in us, teaches us and leads us each day.

John 15:16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit — fruit that will last — and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.

Revelation 3:20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

Throughout our lives, options and choices will be presented to us.

• Wrong choices that lead to perdition and eternal death.

• Choices based on the word of God that generate blessings and eternal life.

Deuteronomy 30:19 This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.

Joshua 24:15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.

Position yourself, the Lord gives you strength, persevere and make the right choice for you and your family, as Joshua did and was honored by the Lord.

May you and your family choose to follow Jesus every day of your life, to hear his voice directing, guarding, teaching, ridding yourself of evil and giving eternal life.

2 Timothy 1:12 ... because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day.

May the Lord flood your life with the fountain of living waters that heal and cleanse!

God bless you.
