» Mark 10:46 Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging.
Wherever Jesus walked, he dragged crowds. Around him there were always people looking for some blessing.
» Mark 10:47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!
Bartimaeus had already heard of Jesus, but Jesus had already passed him by and did not bless him.
Bartimaeus knew that Jesus was his only hope and that in him lay the power to heal him.
Perhaps Jesus had no intention of healing him, but the man's outcry, attitude and faith changed his story:
1st Bartimaeus recognized that Jesus was the Messiah, when he worshiped him calling him the son of David.
2nd Bartimaeus did not complain, but asked for mercy.
3rd Bartimaeus was not satisfied with the fact that Jesus had already gone through him and he insistently sought his blessing.
HAVE YOU BEEN DOING THE SAME?
» Mark 10:48 Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, Son of David, have mercy on me!
Bartimaeus was not discouraged by the words of those around him, because his faith was consistent and unshakable and the more they discouraged him, the more he shouted.
HAVE YOU BEEN DOING THE SAME?
» Mark 10:49 Jesus stopped and said, Call him. So they called to the blind man, Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.
The power of a clamor motivates Jesus to bless, when one seeks in faith, recognizing that He is Lord.
NEVER SAY: The Lord will not bless me, rather CRY OUT, CRY OUT, CRY OUT, WITHOUT COMPLAINING, because just as Jesus acted with Bartimaeus, He will act with you, because God does not show favoritism.
» Mark 10:50 Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.
Bartimaeus' faith was such that when he was told that Jesus was calling him, he threw away his cloak, perhaps the only possession he had, which protected him from the sun, rain, cold, because he knew not would need more of that.
» Mark 10:51 What do you want me to do for you? Jesus asked him. The blind man said, Rabbi, I want to see.
This verse is interesting because Jesus knew that Bartimaeus was blind and yet he asked: What do you want me to do for you?
The Lord asks you every day: What do you want me to do for you? HE WANTS TO HEAR YOU.
Present to Jesus your needs, your projects, your problems, but with faith and persevere, because your faith and your clamor will move the heart of God and Jesus will bless you.
» Mark 10:52 “Go, said Jesus, your faith has healed you. Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.
The Lord bless you and keep you.
