MESSAGES

The Prayer of Faith (Luke 7:7)

In the first verses of the book of Luke chapter 7, we find Jesus' joy in the attitude of faith of a man, a Roman centurion (commander of one hundred men).

Luke 7:9 When Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turning to the crowd that followed him, said, I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.

A Roman centurion had sent Jewish messengers to Jesus, asking Him to heal one of his very sick servants.

Luke 7:2 Now a centurion had a servant who was sick and at the point of death, who was highly valued by him. 3 When the centurion heard about Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him to come and heal his servant.

When Jesus was coming near the centurion's house, he again sent messengers to Jesus, saying that he was not worthy of Jesus entering his house, but it was enough for Jesus to say the word and his servant to be healed.

Luke 7:6 And Jesus went with them. When he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying to him, Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof. 7 Therefore I did not presume to come to you. But say the word, and let my servant be healed.

Then appears one of the most wonderful texts of the Bible, where a man's faith is expressed through his words of recognition of the power and absolute authority of Jesus.

The centurion said:

Luke 7:8 For I too am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me: and I say to one, “Go”, and he goes; and to another, “Come”, and he comes; and to my servant, “Do this”, and he does it.

Jesus admired that man's faith by saying that even in Israel he did not find such faith like that.

Luke 7:9 When Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turning to the crowd that followed him, said, I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.

Then when the messengers returned to the centurion's house they found the servant healed.

Luke 7:10 And when those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the servant well.

Maybe you're crying out to God for something you need or on someone's behalf.

Believe that your words and your attitudes of faith can generate the blessing you seek so much.

Say in your prayers that you believe that JESUS CAN DO ALL, and that you know that THERE ARE NOTHING IMPOSSIBLE FOR GOD.

But these words cannot be said simply because I told you to speak, but those words have to break from your heart, as something you truly believe, and then the power of God will manifest itself and your blessing will come.

The Lord bless you and keep you
