The Love of God (John 3:16)

Who could give his life, out of love, in favor of the one who does not love him, but who rather commits transgressions and does not please him?

Paul wrote: Romans 5:7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Paul was pondering that in favor of a righteous man one could dare to give his life, but in favor of sinners, only a great love could motivate this attitude.

And Jesus expressed that immeasurable love through his death.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

It was because of God's love for humanity that He sent Jesus.

It was because of Jesus' love for humanity that He died on the cross, enduring all sorts of humiliation and suffering, pretending to be cursed so that the curses of sin and disobedience that were upon us would be extinguished.

Galatians 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.

Through the sacrifice of Jesus, the curse of sin imposed to man by God, because of the disobedience of Adam and Eve, who are the parents of all mankind, disappears.

Genesis 3:17 ... Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life.

God has always warned man that the result of sin would be death.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

We were condemned to death, by the curse of sin, and Jesus suffered this for us, died on the cross and that's why we have the right to eternal life, because death was conquered on the cross, with the remission of sins.

But Jesus came to his people and they did not receive him.

John 1:11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.

That is, the sacrifice of Jesus only has effect for those who receive it, because in this way THEY WILL STOP BEING CREATURES to BECOME CHILDREN OF GOD.

Many have ignored the power and breadth of God's Word, thinking, perhaps, that God's Word is mere fantasy or fable.

But the words of Jesus are unmistakable and very clear, and anyone who ignores or despises them is certainly rejecting Jesus himself, as many have done and are doing right now.

John 14:15 If you love me, you will obey what I command.

Luke 14:26 If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters, yes, even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.

Do not fool yourself, JESUS WILL DEMAND OBEDIENCE FROM US OBEDIENCE TO ALL HIS WORD, BECAUSE HE IS LIFE AND DISOBEDIENCE LEADS TO DEATH.

Mark 13:31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

The Lord bless you and keep you.
