Nehemiah was raised by God to rebuild the walls, gates and the city of Jerusalem, which had been destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Assyria, during the Babylonian captivity.
Nehemiah then summoned the people and the priests to rebuild the holy city.
In a short time, the walls of Jerusalem were halfway rebuilt and those working on the construction were motivated by the work and its results.
Nehemiah 4:6 So we rebuilt the wall till all of it reached half its height, for the people worked with all their heart.
However, the enemies of the people of Israel were not satisfied with the progress of that work, because at the beginning of it, they believed that it would never be completed.
So, they devised a plan to invade the city and kill all the workers by surprise.
Nehemiah 4:7-8 But when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites and the people of Ashdod heard that the repairs to Jerusalem’s walls had gone ahead and that the gaps were being closed, they were very angry. They all plotted together to come and fight against Jerusalem and stir up trouble against it.
Nehemiah, upon learning of his enemies' plan, went to pray to God and seek the Lord's help and post sentries to guard.
Nehemiah 4:9 But we prayed to our God and posted a guard day and night to meet this threat.
However, the people who were previously motivated, lost their spirit and strength and began to think that they would no longer be able to complete the work.
Nehemiah 4:10 Meanwhile, the people in Judah said, The strength of the laborers is giving out, and there is so much rubble that we cannot rebuild the wall.
These same situations commonly happen among God's people, at one point people are motivated, building the things of God for their lives, then results begin to appear: Communion with God, spiritual gifts, the anointing of God, sanctification.
But, the enemy will ALWAYS try to destroy what God is building and how often a simple difficulty that Satan places in front of God's people is enough for there to be discouragement and the feeling of defeat and the feeling that the promises of God will no longer happen.
YOU CAN'T BE LIKE THIS!
Be inspired by Nehemiah and have the same attitude he had: Pray, watch, stand up for battle, because the Lord is strong and powerful, HE IS THE LORD OF BATTLES.
Nehemiah 4:14 After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.
WATCH, PRAY AND FIGHT, as Nehemiah did, with one hand the people worked on building the walls and with the other hand they wielded the sword, so if the enemy came, they would be prepared.
Nehemiah 4:17 who were building the wall. Those who carried materials did their work with one hand and held a weapon in the other.
Don't let your faith fade, nor your hope, nor your strength.
Always be aware of the snares and traps of darkness, ALWAYS FIGHT! REMEMBER THE LORD, who is great and terrible.
The Lord bless you and keep you.
